A Cowboy Named Bud
by Meeting Junkie No More ina cowboy named bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in california when suddenly a brand-new bmw advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust .
the driver, a young man in a brioni suit, gucci shoes, ray ban sunglasses and ysl tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "if i tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will yougive me a calf?
bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "sure, why not?

Random musings
by Meeting Junkie No More inok, a brief update.... haven't been to a meeting in almost a year; had a visit recently from one of the 'friends' who very kindly brought a load of reading material for my edification (public edition wts and awakes).
i actually enjoyed reading some of the articles this time around, because they were starting to deal with topics that actually come up in the field service and might i add, are discussed on this very forum quite often e.g.
whether or not the name of jehovah should be used in the nt, whether or not it should be pronounced in view of its unknown pronounciation in the original, etc.

Anyone reading Tom Harpur's new book Water Into Wine?
by Meeting Junkie No More ini am in the middle of reading the above, having read his previous book the pagan christ.
i more or less agree with his new outlook, especially his empowering vision of the gospels when read metaphorically and allegorically.
anyone else have any comments?

"Congregation Bible Study" - Name Change probably money motivated
by Meeting Junkie No More inok, just to beat this topic to death, i think the real reason for the book study amalgamation is actually the name change to congregation bible study.. there's got to be a gazillion catholic, protestant, presbyterian, anglican, methodist, united etc.
churches that have alpha courses and bible study nights.
and some light bulb has gone off in brooklyn so that the so-called governing body has finally caught on that they are the only religion without an actual 'bible' study meeting.

Book Study Annihilation Countdown Calendar - Anyone up for making one?
by Meeting Junkie No More inanyone understand why this announcement is being made eight (8) months before it actually takes effect?
if i was still 'active' i'd figure, hell, why not forget about attending immediately.
can you imagine the morale as the dubs shuffle off to the remaining 32 book studies in living memory?

by Meeting Junkie No More infirst off, i no longer believe the bible to be the inspired word of god.
but with my heart i want to believe.

1975 Letdown increasingly becoming topic of conversations among witnesses
by Meeting Junkie No More ini have noticed that more and more, witnesses seem to be discussing the 1975 debacle amongst themselves, and agreeing that it is amazing that witnesses as a whole are all still here and the world is still here, and their kids are now in high school, or married, or whatever.
they also seem to be discussing the importance of retirement plans, in direct contradiction to what cos and dos are spouting at the annual conventions.... the last time this happened was at a recent funeral, where another long-time witness had passed on.
the interesting thing was that a younger group were discussing this, and some of them weren't even around in '75!.
